A general introduction to the planets, certain festivals, etc., is followed by the Calendar, which for each month consists of a daily poem in honor of the saint of that day, with an account, in prose or verse, of special events connected with church life and the weather. The book is in good condition, the cover is somewhat untidy.

Petrus Croon, 1634 – 1682, was the son of a notary from Mechelen. He entered a monastery of the Windesheim congregation in Bruges. There he wrote 6 works in the style of Cats and Poirters. He resolutely opted for the use of the vernacular. He also had a great interest in astronomy. In 1674 he became prior of the St.Maartensdal monastery in Leuven. He produced 6 works Cocus bonus, or Geestelijcke Sinnebeelden and de Godtvluchtige interpretations op alle den Kock’s tools, Bruges, 1663. In this work one finds rhymed allusions and moral explanations of all kinds of kitchen tools in rhyme; Cucus Bonus second part of gheestelycke remarks on the table and the snacks of a complete meal, Bruges 1663, Almanach for today and tomorrow, Antw. 1663; Moy-al, oft delightful description of various crafts, Mechelen 1666, reprinted in Antwerp in 1766; Grabbelingh, orte vermaecklycke Raetsels, Bruges, 1666, and History of O.L.V. van Hanswijck, Mechelen 1670.
