Beautiful copper engraving after a watercolor by Johann Rudolf Dickenmann. The copper engraving was made by his son, who was also called Johann Rudolf Dickenmann. The engraving is colored and shows a view of Zurich with the Alps in the background. Above the picture are the names of the peaks.
Johann Rudolf Dickenmann was born in Zurich in 1832. He was the son of the founder of the family company Dickenmann, who was also called Johann Rudolf Dickenmann. Johan Rudolf the Elder was a watercolorist, he founded his own publishing house of copper engraving and steel engraving around 1820. He focused on producing colored Swiss vistas and costume photos. His sisters and brother Anna, Johann Caspar and Louise Dickenmann also worked in the family business. Johann Rudolf Dickenmann died in Zurich in 1888.
