Pieter van der Leeuw was a Dutch painter who was born in 1647 born in Dordrecht. He was the son of Bastiaan Goverszoon van der Leeuw and the younger brother of Govert van der Leeuw. From 1669 he was part of the Dordrecht painters guild Pictura. He is known for his Italian-inspired landscapes in the style of Adriaan van de Velde. Pieter van der Leeuw died in Dordrecht in 1679.
Friedrich Geissler was born on March 31, 1778 in Nuremberg, was a German draftsman, etcher and engraver. From 1791 to 1797, Friedrich Geißler was trained by the art dealer and publisher Johann Friedrich Frauenholz in Nuremberg. From 1797 to 1803 he was a student of Gustav Philipp Zwinger and of the friend and engraver Heinrich Guttenberg in Nuremberg. Between 1803 and 1814 he stayed with Albert Christoph Reindel in Paris, where they studied with their Nuremberg teacher Heinrich Guttenberg, and with the École des Beaux-Arts. In 1812, Geissler took part in the Paris Salon. In 1814 he started working in Nuremberg as a vignette and landscape engraver. From 1832 he focused on making steel engravings under the direction of Friedrich Fleischmann. Friedrich Geissler died on January 9, 1853 in Nuremberg.
