Series of chromolithographies entitled, le verbe aimer, composition J.G. Scheffer and lithography by Regnier and Bettanier. This folder contains 5 very good quality chromolithographies. The prints are entitled Tu aimeras, Aimer, Tu aimes, Elles aiment and Aimante. The prints are still in the original folder and have therefore withstood the time very well. The images are 26.5 x 21 cm in size, the sheets are 55.5 x 37.5 cm in size. The set is published by Goupil & Vibert in Paris and London, and at the same time by R. Lebraseur in Paris and Berlin. The titles are in French and English. The quality of the prints is very good, the folder is a bit worn.

Joseph Bettannier, was born on April 28, 1817 in Metz and died after 1877, he was a French designer and lithographer. He is known for his natural views of glaciers on behalf of the Swiss explorer Louis Agassiz. These appeared in 1840 in Agassis ’, Studies on Glaciers, the first book on glaciology and glacial geomorphology. Joseph Bettannier, together with his brother Édouard, founded the Bettannier frères company in Paris, specializing in the production of high-quality lithographs. Because of his birth in Metz, he chose French nationality in 1872. He then lived in Boulogne-sur-Seine. He stopped all activities after 1877.
