Nieuwe beschrijving der meest gebruikelijke kaartspelen, zoo als die hier te lande gespeeld worden. Amsterdam, H. Moolenijzer, 1828. 2 parts in one full in-8vo, Front., (8), 104, (4), 78 p. Old parchment binding. With 6 folding plates, plate 1 is loose, otherwise in excellent condition. Dutch report on card games, explaining the rules of about thirty different types of card games. The frontispiece shows men and women playing cards together, while men play chess and billiards alone nearby, and below are four lines declaring cards to be a more enjoyable pastime than billiards or chess. The fold-out plates at the end show the cards as they might be for a wide variety of games. It was first published by the current publisher in 1821 and quickly became the standard work, with at least seventeen editions until 1938. This 1828 edition is extremely rare.
