Publication in Dutch by the States of Holland and Westvriesland, 23 February 1736 revoking an earlier ordinance of 1 April 1580. According to the old rules, widowers were allowed to marry the (step) mother of the deceased wife. In this publication it is stated that on closer inspection this is unbecoming and prohibited. In this publication it is also forbidden for widowed women to marry the (step) father of the deceased man. In the first ordinance, apparently, this option had not yet been considered.
